AI at work in Annecy, from the lakeside to the valley workshops

From Chambéry, we come to Annecy to put AI where it genuinely helps: messages from travellers, quote requests in a machine shop, product pages for an outdoor brand, with teams trained to review what it writes.

Demo. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic, ChatGPT a trademark of OpenAI.

LaBoîte integrates AI into businesses across Grand Annecy: accommodation and tourist activities, bar-turning and mechatronics subcontractors, outdoor sports brands. We audit your tasks, choose Claude or ChatGPT, connect it to your tools and train your teams, working from Chambéry by video call and on site whenever the project calls for it.

Grand Annecy brings together 34 municipalities and economies that rarely cross paths: lake tourism, a precision industry inherited from watchmaking, outdoor sports brands, film and animation. AI is not used the same way at the counter of a water-sports centre and in the methods office of a bar-turning shop.

So this page starts from trades rather than software. It complements our AI integration service and our web agency in Annecy page, which presents the rest of our work in the area.

What can AI do for Annecy’s tourism businesses?

Mostly messages: questions before arrival, replies to reviews, information in several languages. AI prepares, and a person approves anything that commits the business.

According to Grand Annecy, tourism supports around 1,400 businesses and 7,000 year-round jobs, a large share of them in accommodation and restaurants. These teams get the same questions at the height of the season, exactly when they are busiest: arrival time, parking, an outing cancelled because of a storm, a gluten-free menu.

A well-prepared assistant answers from a knowledge base that you have written, in the customer’s language, and points to your booking page for any question about availability. The same approach works for replying to reviews, a method we first wrote up for Aix-les-Bains that transfers just as well to the shores of Lake Annecy. To decide which of these repetitive tasks deserve automating first, see our guide on what to automate in your business.

In a bar-turning workshop, where do you start?

With the office tasks surrounding production: quote requests, quality documentation, searching the files of parts already made. Setting up the machines remains the technicians' job.

The Haute-Savoie departmental council points out that bar turning (décolletage, the machining of small precision parts) was born at the end of the nineteenth century from the conversion of watchmaking in the Arve valley, and that Haute-Savoie is home to 65 % of France’s factories in the sector. These small firms live on frequent requests for quotation, drawings that resemble one another and demanding traceability requirements.

A sensible first use: an internal assistant that finds a comparable part already quoted in your archives, summarises a customer’s specifications and prepares the outline of the reply, which the account manager then takes over. Set up properly, the tool cites the document it drew from, so every answer can be checked in seconds. Since customer drawings are often covered by non-disclosure agreements, we check with you what each contract allows before touching them.

What can you hand over to AI in an outdoor brand?

The raw material of your content: product pages in several languages, after-sales replies, summaries of customer feedback. The brand’s tone of voice is set down in writing beforehand.

Grand Annecy lists the sports and outdoor industry among its sectors of excellence. A young brand there has to produce a lot of copy with a small team: technical descriptions, size guides, care advice, return conditions.

AI writes drafts from your technical data sheets, and a person checks every value: fabric weight, waterproofing, product weight. If the brand is just starting out, our article on brand identity essentials puts that content in its place in the launch; a store that later wants a customer assistant will find the pitfalls to avoid set out in our journal, in French.

Is there public support for a small firm in Haute-Savoie?

Yes, at national level: the IA Booster France 2030 programme, presented by the Direction générale des Entreprises and run by Bpifrance, is aimed at small and mid-sized companies. Its conditions change, so check them before building a plan around it.

The DGE describes four phases: awareness, a data diagnosis, help choosing a solution, and experimentation. Companies with 10 to 2,000 employees have priority, which includes many subcontractors in the valley. We do not award this support and make no promise that you will obtain it; we can, however, prepare with you the scope and use cases such an application requires, then put the chosen solution in place.

What rules should you set before opening an assistant to customers?

Three rules: say it is an AI, promise nothing in the team’s place, keep a record of conversations. They apply to a hotel as much as to a manufacturer.

The transparency rules in Article 50 of the EU AI Act have applied since 2 August 2026. The European Commission specifies that the information must be given at the latest at the first interaction, and that the exception for cases where it is obvious is to be read narrowly. For a traveller writing in German at midnight, nothing is obvious: the first message says so.

On data, the CNIL, France’s data protection authority, asks businesses to limit what they collect and to inform the people concerned, as its practical guides on AI summarise. We choose plans where your conversations are not used for training, the default for Anthropic’s commercial offerings and the OpenAI API. With you, we also write the assistant’s notice, its list of refusals and the cases where it hands over to a person; our comparison Claude or ChatGPT for business helps choose between the two.

How do we work with a business in Annecy?

From Chambéry, mostly by video call, and on site for the audit and the workshops. Follow-up then happens remotely, with regular check-ins.

The audit works from your real messages and documents, anonymised if needed. We compare Claude and ChatGPT on these cases, recommend one or the other, then connect the chosen tool to your calendar, booking system or quoting software through our automation and tools offer. Training takes place in the business: at reception, in the sales team or in the methods office, everyone practises on their own examples.

If your website first needs to exist in several languages, our website design in Annecy page takes over.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a multilingual assistant from day one?

Not necessarily. Current tools reply in the customer’s language from a knowledge base written in French; what matters is having sensitive replies, such as cancellations, reviewed by someone who speaks that language.

Can our customer drawings go through AI?

Only if the contract with the customer allows it, and on a business plan whose data is not used for training. When in doubt, the assistant works on your internal documents, not on your customers'.

Do you also train seasonal staff?

Yes, with a short format focused on the rules: what the assistant does, what it does not do, when to take back control. The written instructions stay in the tool for the following season.

How much time should we allow?

It depends on the number of uses and connections. The timetable is set out in the quote, drawn up after the audit, and allows for your own approval times.
