From Chambéry, LaBoîte designs websites for hotels, residences, wellness centres, boat hire businesses and shops in Aix-les-Bains and the Grand Lac area. Every project starts from one plain question: who comes to you, in which season, and what should they be able to do online on their own?
Aix-les-Bains welcomes audiences who cross paths without having much in common: spa patients on a cure prescribed by a doctor, which the French national health insurance, the Assurance maladie, sets at 18 days of actual treatment; families spending the summer on the shores of the Lac du Bourget; conference delegates during the week; and residents who are there all year round. A website in Aix has to answer each of them without herding them all through the same pages.
Here is how we run a website design project for a business in the town or the wider urban area. Our other services locally are listed on the web agency in Aix-les-Bains page.
How can one website in Aix speak to spa patients, holidaymakers and residents alike?
By opening separate paths from the home page, rather than piling up information. The spa patient wants to know how their stay will be organised, the holidaymaker looks for the beach and the terrace, the resident needs opening hours and a phone number.
According to the tourist office, the town has two thermal spas with different specialisms: the Thermes Chevalley for rheumatology and phlebology (vein conditions), and the Thermes de Marlioz for the respiratory tract and the lining of the mouth and tongue. A hotel or residence close to either one should explain how to walk there, whether it offers stays matched to the length of a cure, and what happens when a spa guest arrives.
For these guests, legibility matters as much as style: text large enough to read, strong contrast, buttons that are easy to tap, directions with no detours. The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025 and covers e-commerce in particular; a website that sells stays or treatments online needs to check what it requires of it.
- Spa stay: getting to the baths, meals, linen, parking, length of stay
- Lakeside weekend: beach, terrace, activities, late arrival
- Business guests: meeting rooms, invoicing, access to the convention centre
- Residents: opening hours, map, booking a table or a treatment
What should the website of a hotel inherited from the Belle Époque show?
The building and its history, when they serve the stay: the room as it is today, the bathroom, the lift and the view count as much as the decor. Photos must be recent and true to life.
The tourist office points out that the town holds the Ville d’art et d’histoire label, a French heritage designation, and that its former Belle Époque palace hotels can be explored on guided tours. Some have changed use: the former Hôtel Royal, built in 1914 to plans by the Geneva architect Alfred Olivet, is now a residence, and its ground-floor lounge is a listed historic monument. This heritage shapes the image of the town; an establishment that inherits it can tell the story of its façade, its staircase and its lounges.
The trap would be to sell a postcard. Someone about to book wants to see their room, to know whether there is a lift and where to leave the car. Our partner video crews shoot these images outside busy hours (see video and photography), and the identity is built with the approach set out in our article on brand identity essentials.
Which online booking system suits a wellness centre, a spa or a residence?
The one that fits the way you work: a well-integrated off-the-shelf tool is often enough, while custom development linked to your own software makes sense when your rules are unusual. Either way, the customer sees the free slots, books and receives a confirmation without having to phone.
A wellness centre has to juggle treatment rooms, practitioners and treatment lengths; a residence, check-ins and check-outs; a hire business, time slots and a deposit. Our journal compares the booking options open to a spa or wellness centre in Aix, and what each of them costs over a year.
For Groupe Corsiva, a rental company in Chambéry, we connected the website’s booking to its in-house software, Corsiva OS, with payment and a card-imprint deposit through Stripe: it is the case we know from the inside. For a hotel, the trade-off between direct booking and the big platforms comes down to a list of costs worth checking, and taking payment falls under our online payments service.
How should a water sports business get its website ready before summer?
By reworking it over the winter: time slots, bad-weather terms, photos from last season. By spring, it should already answer the questions that will come in July.
According to the tourist office, the Lac du Bourget is the largest natural lake in France, and Grand Lac runs 13 ports around its shores. Boat hire, paddleboarding, cruises, sailing: these activities play out over a few months, and often on a phone at the water’s edge. The website has to say on a single screen what can be hired, for how many people, with or without a boating licence, and what happens when the wind gets up.
We plan one page per activity rather than a catch-all page, a weather cancellation policy spelt out in black and white, and a practical block: departure port, parking, what to bring. Social posts follow the same calendar, in the way we describe for the content of a lakeside restaurant on the Lac du Bourget.
And for a shop in the town centre or a company in Grand Lac?
A shop in Aix needs accurate information and a website that matches its Google profile; a company on a business park needs a website that reassures trade buyers and job applicants. Neither the pages nor the wording are the same.
Grand Lac, the conurbation authority with its seat in Aix-les-Bains, brings together 28 municipalities. Its economic development is run jointly with Grand Chambéry through Chambéry–Grand Lac économie, which counts “outdoor – health – wellbeing” among its key sectors. On the Savoie Hexapole business park, sports brands sit alongside a business incubator holding the Outdoor Sports Valley label.
For these companies, the website is there to sell to distributors and to recruit: catalogue, technical data sheets, a careers page with real photos of the workshop. For a shop in town, it extends the Google profile: seasonal opening hours, flagship products, a link to booking or click-and-collect. The visibility side comes under our SEO service.
How do we work with Aix-les-Bains from Chambéry?
As neighbours do: on-site meetings are easy to arrange, and the rest moves forward by video call and shared documents. A single person follows your website from the first workshop to the day it goes live.
Chambéry and Aix-les-Bains share the same catchment area and the same economic development body, so driving over for a workshop, an off-season photo shoot or a handover session on the new site is no trouble at all. The schedule follows yours, for instance to deliver before the beaches open or before a congress fills the town.
The steps are those of our Chambéry projects, described on the website design in Chambéry page: scoping, content, mock-ups, development, basic search optimisation, launch and follow-up. For a first conversation, go through the contact page.
Frequently asked questions
Can a hotel website present the spa treatments on offer nearby?
Yes, to inform: the specialisms of the nearby spas, how to get there, how the stay is organised. Medical information remains that of the spa establishments and the Assurance maladie; the website promises no health benefit.
Should our website go dormant in winter, like our water sports business?
No: it keeps receiving visits, group enquiries and gift card requests. Show the reopening date and open bookings for the next season as soon as it is set.
Can we keep the booking tool we use today?
Often, yes: if it works and your customers use it, we integrate it cleanly into the new website. We only suggest replacing it if it blocks a sale, for example a payment that cannot be completed on a phone.
How long does a website for a hotel or a wellness centre take?
It depends on the number of pages, the photos to produce and the booking system to connect. The written schedule that comes with the quote sets the launch date, aiming for the pre-season.
